QUT Library Upgrade, Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove Campus, QLD

Green Leaf engineers was appointed to support envisaged changes at both libraries including relocation of compactus, the structural requirements in support of revised building services, and new facade components.

Refurbishment of the Kelvin Grove library has provided the greatest the greatest opportunity for enhanced sustainability & functionality with a variety of facade treatments and ventilation strategies modelled to minimise energy usage and carbon consumption.

Brief:

Libraries at both of these campuses were constructed in the 1980’s. Whilst the exposed Class 2 decorative concrete structures are performing as intended, the demand of these educational spaces has changed significantly over the years, as the conceptual functionality of a ‘library’ has also changed.
