Mandalay Peninsula Private Estate is an 18 Lot subdivision located on the Northern Queensland coast. GLE were recruited to design the telecommunications and electrical reticulation systems to service each residential subdivision on this estate. This development presented a number of design challenges being set on a steep hillside, with a single source of electricity, tight schedule and limited budget.
In order to offer our client maximum value, we modeled maximum electricity demands and calculated optimal cable configurations to suit the site. We also took great care to consider the long-term running costs and practical amenity to end users.
Our final design solution was highly efficient in reducing the energy infrastructure costs and increasing the sustainability of the development. We saved the developer $200 000 compared to a standard electrical scheme metering each lot. Moreover, the efficient use of materials reduced the environmental impact of the development.
